Hello Thespians:

Did you know that we are now considered a dinner theatre?  Well, one guest who claims to usually be non-judgemental (his words, not mine, but an astute theatre critic nonetheless) last night described us in a very interesting metaphor.  He asked, "Have you ever been to a theatre and felt that the cast fed off each other so perfectly?  That's how your group is!"  What a wonderful, heartfelt compliment.

Last night, we performed the mitzvah of giving a portion of our lot to the poor by distributing to all of our guests mishloach manot, containing candy, raisins, hamentashen and apples. We spoke of the Jewish holiday, Purim, as one which is joyous, people dress up in costume, act up, read from Esther's Scroll, and enjoy a meal together.

Our dinner last night was "ahmaaazing!"  (Seth Rudetsky, Broadway's Best, Sirius Satellite Radio)
Lentil and vegetable soups, cornflake chicken, yellow and green beans and carrots, pasta and rice, caesar salad, Purim goodies.  Guests' comments:  "This chicken is better than KFC" and "That was the best dinner I've ever had in my whole life."

So, even though I know that your offering at OOTC is not an act, you may pick up your prize, recognition of the performance you gave this winter, by attending the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner, April 8th.   Please confirm your attendance to the Out of the Cold office, 308-8447, by next Tuesday.   If you require a kosher meal or have other food requests, please let me know.

Our OOTC Shabbat was a well-attended, warm and welcoming celebration.  Many thanks to everyone who took part in the service, making it very special indeed!  For those who couldn't attend, attached is the "sermon" which I delivered directly to you!

Have a great week,

Cindy

Dearest Cindy:

Thank you for your inspiring words, as well as your gracious and inspiring example and presence. You make our hearts sing! The added bonus
of living and explaining the Jewish component of our participation, to
our guests, and to us as volunteers , makes me so proud!

I am sorry that I will not be able to attend the April 8th celebration.
It overlaps with my attendance at a family wedding in Wash., DC.
However, if the KBH is willing, I hope to attend next year's, after
earning a full year of volunteering.

Best wishes.
Fondly, Ahuva
